Life Update #2

A once in a blue moon life update has appeared. Not that there's anything that's of note but you might be seeing fewer beauty posts since I've been very into clothes lately. I think I'm trying to figure out my personal style which is honestly a lot of black, navy, white, stripes and denim. I like comfort and I'm currently working out the pieces in my wardrobe so I think most of my purchases will be more on clothes and the occasional beauty purchase. I'm also noticing a few things like my skin slowly getting less oily and becoming more normal. It has become quite a shock and I'm contemplating whether to buy a ton of moisturizing treatments and masks.

And here's a little ramble on body image. I'm not thin but I don't think I'm plus size as well. I'm an in between. And as I'm getting clothes more often now it is extremely frustrating how the Philippines carries a very narrow sizing system and someone of my size (I'm a US 10) is considered XL or L and no other or very few options are offered out there. Even for feet, I've been disappointed by high end brands and mid level brands carrying 9 as the largest size. 3 out of my 5 friends have size 10 feet. Oh the agony for bigger sizes. A fashion designer friend told me that demand is the problem, low demand for these sizes means low production. Hmmm that translates to me as how does one know it has a low demand when one doesn't even make them? Or do we treat plus size women as invisible?

End of ramble. And hopefully look forward for more style and beauty posts in the future.

Life Lately #1

A different kind of post today in my effort to have a bit of a more personal touch on my blog. But this series is more on a little life update and just a few random personal things. These are much more sporadic and irregular than any of my usual offerings.

22

I apologize in advance for a barrage of birthday posts on the blog. But yesterday, March 7 was my birthday and I am officially 22. And still dazed, confused and overall lost in life.

What's in my bag: Everyday Edition

So I have done What's in my makeup bags before but never the whole lot, as in my entire bag which you'll be surprised not to find any firearms and illegal paraphernalia.

My Holiday Aftermath Survival Kit

Hello dear readers! Happy New Year to All! And with the ushering of the new year, we welcome the result of partying i.e. Breakouts from unhealthy eating and staying up late, weight gain and overall feeling blah. Well here’s what I devised to feel a tad better after the festivities. Because let’s admit it the Holidays are always an exception to eat anything and do anything right?

I really love facial massages when I get to doing them, as apparently facial massages aren’t very good for oily skin but this is the facial massage routine I’ve been following for a while now, since it’s so simple and just feels revitalizing afterwards. It helps relieve bloating and inflammation and just makes you glow. And I personally feel that my face just has so much blood rushing in and how refreshing is that feeling!?

Skin has been feeling dull, blotchy and irritated and just looks like it took a beating due to late nights so I opted for two recovery masks. The first one being my DIY Oatmeal and honey mask which I just whip up with a handful of oats, a spoonful of honey and hot water. Pop it in the fridge for a few minutes or until it’s cool enough to put on my face and relax for a good 15 minutes in it. It really soothes skin from redness and inflammation.

Recent Artwork

Some recent art I did in the past week. I use Lil' Hands watercolors (I know I know, I should get real watercolors, like the ones in tubes!) and Faber Castell Water color Pencils. And I use a mechanical pencil with 0.5 Faber Castell graphite.

My first attempt at painting a sky. It turned out surprisingly ok. the stars look to big though, they look more like snow.

I had a reference photo while painting this, it was by someone named Nagi, who was way skillfully done but his/her work was on Photoshop? I tried recreating his/her work on paper but it's really hard. I'm actually a beginner at landscape painting, since I suck at it, I figured I should do more of it.

This was the campaign for the YSL babydoll Kiss and Blush, I couldn't sleep one night and impulsively drew this up since I'm also not so good at realistic human sketches, as a result the girl is on the right is below par, but I'm happy that Cara turned out quite ok.
